Q: How many Harris County Criminal Courts at Law exist and what kind of cases do they handle?

A: There are 16 Harris County Criminal Courts At Law and they preside over Class A and Class B misdemeanors.

  • Class A misdemeanors are punishable by up to a year in county jail and/or a $4,000.00 fine.
  • Class B misdemeanors are punishable by up to 180 days in jail and/or a $2,000.00 fine.

Q: Why are you running for this judicial position?

A: The reason that I am running is because I would like to see Harris County be more representative of the population as a whole. Right now of the 16 Harris County Criminal Court At Law Judge there are 8 male and 8 female.  However, there are 15 Republican Judges and 1 Democrat, which is not representative of the population and needs to be balanced out to be representative of our County.
